Simultaneous recovery of attenuation and source density in SPECT

چکیده
We show that under a certain non-cancellation condition the attenuated Radon transform uniquely determines piecewise constant attenuation $ and C^2 source density f with jumps over real analytic boundaries possibly having corners. also look at numerical examples in which fails unique reconstruction of multi-bang still appears to be possible although not yet explained by theoretical results.

Combined source and attenuation reconstructions in SPECT
We consider the simultaneous reconstruction of the absorption coefficient and the source term in a linear transport equation from available boundary measurements. This problem finds applications in SPECT, a medical imaging modality. When the absorption coefficient is known, recently derived inversion formulas for the attenuated Radon transform can be used to reconstruct the source term. Moreove...

Introduction: Attenuation correction is a useful process for improving myocardial perfusion SPECT and is dependent on activity and distribution of attenuation coefficients in the body (attenuation map). Attenuation artifacts are a common problem in myocardial perfusion SPECT. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of attenuation correction using different a...
متن کاملSimultaneous compensation for attenuation, scatter and detector response for SPECT reconstruction in three dimensions.
A three-dimensional reconstruction method for simultaneous compensation of attenuation, scatter and distance-dependent detector response for single photon emission computed tomography is described and tested by experimental studies. The method determines the attenuation factors recursively along each projection ray starting at the intersected source voxel closest to the detector. The method sub...

Introduction: Photon attenuation in tissues is the primary physical degrading factor limiting both visual qualitative interpretation and quantitative analysis capabilities of reconstructed Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) images. The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of attenuation correction on the detection of activation foci following statistical analysis w...
متن کاملSPECT/CT physical principles and attenuation correction.
Using nuclear medicine techniques, physiologic activity and processes can be identified in a way that is unique from other modalities. Oftentimes it is helpful to know the exact location of the physiologic uptake that is visualized on a scan. Knowing the exact location can sometimes help to distinguish normal from abnormal physiologic uptake. When an abnormality has been identified, knowing the...
